Four examples from the same STL file in four different production modes to find out which one produces the best result.
The STL file is a 1/1000 scale model of the University of Antwerp Campus Mutsaard made in Fusion 360. We need to find a smooth mode of production for our Architecture and Urbanism. We used ordinary Styrodur 3000 for our test models.
Picture 1: STL import in VCarve - Ball Nose 4mm - Flandermotion machine - 4h 55min.
Picture 2: STL machining with Adaptive Milling in Fusion 360 - Ball Nose 4mm - Flandermotion machine - 8h 5min.
Picture 3: STL import in Estlcam with Parallel X Schruppen + Schlichten - Ball Nose 4mm - Sorotec HobbyLine machine - 4h 32min.
Picture 4: STL import in Estlcam with Konturparallel Schruppen + Schlichten - Ball Nose 4mm - Sorotec HobbyLine machine - 8h 5min.
The winner is obviously Sorotec HobbyLine + Estlcam. Also most convenient, just import the STL, choose the 3D Bearbeitung and you're done!
